На десктоп (работна околина) користам неколку ажурирани/надградени Slackware 11 и -current компјутери и еве што приметив дека е променето после неколку grep и awk команди.

Голем број на пакети се ажурирани од Slackware 11. Најбитните се kernel 2.6.21.5. (smp, non-smp; speakup), gcc-4.1.2, kde 3.5.7, amarok, k3b, Mozilla (Firefox, Thunderbird, Seamonkey)…

Програмите кои што порано накнадно сум ги инсталирал, а сега ги има во Slackware: mcabber, bluetooth stuff (bluez-* + openobex); nano, knemo, sdparm, openvpn, kvpnc, gpgme, gnutls, libgpg-error…

Битни работи кои се додадени од Slackware 11, а кои јас (сеуште) не ги користам: Hal, dbus, gnupg2, modular xorg ~ 7.2-7.3 with xgl, compiz, нови (open source) video drivers за intel, nvidia, ati, s3… нови фонтови…

На 7ми мај излезе Gentoo Linux 2007.0 со кодното име „Secret Sauce“. Соопштение за медиуми.

Доаѓа со: нов инсталер за AMD64, x86 LiveCD и LiveDVD. GNOME 2.16.2, KDE 3.5.5, Xfce 4.4, Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3, OpenOffice.org 2.1.0, кернел 2.6.19, GLIBC 2.5…

Преземање.

Кернелот денеска е ажуриран на 2.6.20 (r8).

Постои бубачка во /etc/fstab каве во линија за датотечниот систем за cdrom пишува audo уместо auto.

Another solution to a timeless problem!

Once again, it took many months of work to optimize an idle loop.

It doesn’t and never did. However, the uptime clock wraps around after 497 days. Took me two hours of finding out why the box rebooted (and then why there was no indication of the reboot in the logs) one day to research that. That same box has since looped the clock a second time. So I can say for sure it stays up for more than 50 days.

497 day wrap around? You should switch to Windows. I’m sure no such problem has ever been reported on that OS.

etch ships with CONFIG_IP_ROUTE_MULTIPATH_CACHED (experimental) enabled in the kernel. This breaks the multipath route behavior in iproute. As the google search [google.com] shows, it is wreaking havoc with anyone using multipath and dual-wan systems. Those who upgraded this morning to the new stable may be in for a ride. Од вчера –current е јавен, после неколку месеци во кои помал број луѓе имаа пристап поради тоа што се менуваат многу битни работи (кои Пат ги нарекува “toolchain”) па не беше доволно стабилен, а тие немаа желба да се замараат со пајсери кои би барале помош зашто системите им се расипани.Kernel: Нема повеќе компатибилност со 2.4 кернели. Иако во последните три години Slackware и Debian биле бастиони на 2.4 кернели (са подршка за 2.6, али 2.4 беше подразбиран), истиот повеќе не се употребува и оди во пензија затоа што негово задржување прави проблеми. Очекувана акција, најавена пред повеќе месеци.

Објавено е дека Slackware 11 уште долго ќе биде ажуриран (–current ќе постати 12), и тоа не само за сигурносни пропусту туку и поновите верзии на програми, тако да оние на кои им треба 2.4 уште долго време ќе имаат добар систем.

X system: Модуларна 7.x грана, наместо поранешна 6.9. Додаден е compiz. Кул.

GCC: Верзија 4. Проблем во најава
XMMS: Gone. Практично сите дистрибуции се одлучиле на овај корак. Мени не ми е жал зашто користам Амарок одамна, али капирам дека некому нема да му се допадне ова. Ениху, се работи за тоа што Xmms одамна престана да се развива, постојат сигурносни пропусти и никој не сака да се малтретира со тоа. Постојат неколку слични плеери за иста намена и најмалку 5 кои се многу подобри.

KDE: Ново 3.5.6. Кул, нови копете рула.
